Humble yourself.

By: Kobe DarDar

Scripture Text:

6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7

Devotional:

“1 Peter 5:7”, is one of the more popular verses, but for some reason verse 6 gets left out.

Let’s break these two verses down.

Humbleness. It is the key to all of this. Evaluate what you think about yourself. Do you think you are strong enough to handle life on your own? Let’s note that the scripture states that in order to get “lifted up” we must start at the bottom, and let God’s hand lift us, not our own. If you put yourself first you’ll finish last.

Another aspect to humbling ourselves is recognizing who God, Yahweh, is. Yahweh is the Creator, the light in the darkness. We can not breathe without Him. We have no purpose without Him. Yahweh is this powerful, and yet He wants a relationship with us. He wants us to talk to Him, and get to know Him. He wants us to come to Him. Why am I saying all of this? Well the relational, omnipresent, supernatural, God wants us to give Him our anxiety. Our troubles. He wants it all. He cares for us so much that He is willing to give us what we don’t deserve. Love and Peace.

So whatever you are dealing with, just know what kind of God you are dealing with. Don’t let Yahweh be your last resort, go to Him first. Yahweh is in control. Trust in Him. Your life can change dramatically when you surrender to Him. Don’t go to Yahweh just to get something out of it, get to know Him.

Response/Prayer:

Dear Yahweh, thank you for being a relational God that cares about us. Thank you for the Love that you give us that we don’t deserve. Please help me give my anxiety and troubles to you because I can’t handle it on my own. In your name I pray,

Amen
