Death.

Scripture Text:

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,k neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

6The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8:6

Devotional:

Death. . . Something that no one can avoid. One day we will all die. The rich can’t avoid it, the famous can’t avoid it, your mom, your dad, your pastor, death will come one day to all of us. I am not writing this to scare you into Christianity. I want you to have the proper perspective about death.

First of all, if you are a believer, you shouldn’t be worried about what comes after death. Jesus defeated death. Something that no one has ever done before. Death didn’t stand a chance. Jesus took the death blow to the face and got right back up. Let that be your confidence in our Lord and Savior. Let that be your trust that if you believe in Him you will meet him after this life. There is a Heaven. There is a chance for us to be there in paradise with all of our fellow believers. Nothing can separate us from our Loving Father.

Secondly, let death keep your life in perspective. Live it. You don’t have long. Life is a vapor. Here for a second and gone tomorrow. You have no idea when your time is up in this world. Use that as motivation to make the most of every situation. Use that as you live for Christ. What can you do with the time that you have been blessed with? You are here, you have a purpose. I want us to not have any regrets when we look back on our lives. Ask yourself “What more can I do for Jesus?”. I was taught to give my best at everything I do. Give your best to God.

Lastly, do not give death power. Like I said Jesus knocked death out. Do not live your life for yourself. “Life is short so I am going to do what I want” is not the right mindset. That will lead to death. Do not give death that kind of hold. Give your life to God. Live it for Him. Do not be afraid. You will live a full life if it is for Christ. Don’t waste your life.

Response/Prayer:

Lord, thank you for beating death. Thank you for not staying in that tomb. We love you. I pray that we live our lives to the max all for you. Help us to not give power to death. Thank you for our purpose. In your name I pray,  Amen
