IT'S PROVEN that we find our purest fulfillment and joy when we serve God in the unique place he has prepared us for. It’s there that we feel energized, full of purpose and motivated. And that’s where God showers each of us with His blessings.
That’s what MINISTRY MOBILIZATION is all about -- helping people discover that special place of service. In the process, the servant needs of Believers’ Chapel ministries are met. Ministry Mobilization does this through:
Discovery Workshops
Intensive study to discover each person’s passions, spiritual gifts and personal styles, followed by a one-on-one consultation to facilitate entry into ministry. (Led by Dan Huffer, 458-8081)
Discovery Centers/Ministry Expo
Periodic ministry displays in the Chapel lobby sponsored by various ministries at which people can learn about those ministries and the serving opportunities they offer. (Led by Pat Hogan, 432-3959)
First Serve
Planned and structured brief serving opportunities so people can “tryout” a ministry to help them discover and/or confirm their God-chosen places of service without making a long-term commitment. Come once and check it out. No strings attached. (Led by John Quiggle, 652-0273, with Angela Renna and Art Coughlin)
Volunteer Appreciation
Encouraging volunteers by demonstrating that they are appreciated through an annual celebration and regular expressions of appreciation. (Led by Kathleen Dolbear, 699-9639)
Volunteer Opportunities
Try a First Serve Experience!
One of the main barriers to volunteering is that people are reluctant to make long-term commitments before they fully understand what they’re committing to. Makes sense, doesn’t it? First Serve is a means to remove this barrier by helping people discover more about their gifts, interests and skills as they serve at Believers’ Chapel. In other words, First Serve encourages learning by doing. The First Serve mantra is: Come once and check it out. No strings attached.
You can have a First Serve experience by just expressing an interest in one, trying it out once or twice and then making a decision. It‘s strongly recommended that anyone who hasn’t participated in a Discovery Workshop complete a Personal Strengths Assessment to get some direction on their passions, spiritual gifts and personal styles.
